New 2022 Hyundai Tucson is AJAC Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year
The redesigned Hyundai Tucson was named the 2022 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year earlier in March, one of the most prestigious awards a vehicle can receive and certainly the most significant in Canada. The Tucson also won the Autoguide Utility Vehicle of the Year this month.
In other words, the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson continues to prove that it has everything required to meet and surpass the needs of Canadian consumers. This new generation of the Tucson offers:
- Improved efficiency
- More interior space
- More safety and connectivity technology
- Redesigned exterior and interior
- New hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions
- More cargo space and versatility
“It was a tough competition, and we’re excited that one of our best-selling SUVs has earned this recognition from the esteemed AJAC judges,” said Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada. “This award is extremely meaningful to us because the new Tucson embodies Hyundai’s overall green powertrain approach; offering internal combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models in a high-volume compact SUV. With all-wheel drive, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, customers no longer need to choose between all-weather off-road capability and exceptional efficiency.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson comes with a more powerful 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque while the new hybrid and plug-in hybrid models offer 227 horsepower and 261 horsepower respectively. Both hybrid models feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder paired with an electric motor and battery.
In the case of the PHEV model, you enjoy 53 kilometres of range from the larger capacity battery. This translates into an average fuel economy rating of 2.9 l/100 km while the hybrid model averages 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is also more spacious than ever with over 1,095 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, and over 2,119 litres of total cargo area.
